(KFSN) &#8212; A new investment in local water infrastructure is now starting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Officials broke ground Thursday on phase one of the Friant-Kern Canal pump station replacement project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">This canal carries water from Millerton Lake across South Valley counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Earlier this year, the Department of the Interior announced $200 million for the waterway through the One Big Beautiful Bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">During phase one, five aging pump stations are being replaced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">Phase two will modernize 13 stations that move water through the Friant Division.<br class=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026 KFSN-TV.
