With the Paréa Tour

The Greek-American singer turns a childhood divided between New Jersey and Crete into an exuberant, border-crossing sound – and this October, her Paréa Tour lands on the Sunset Strip

There is something wonderfully difficult to categorize about Evangelia. One moment, her music feels unmistakably contemporary – sleek pop production, dance-floor rhythms and the confidence of an artist with global ambitions. The next, a melody or traditional Greek texture pulls you thousands of miles away, toward the villages and summer nights of Crete.

That duality isn’t a marketing invention. It’s Evangelia’s life story.

Born Evangelia Psarakis in New Jersey, the Greek-American singer grew up with one foot in the United States and the other in Greece, spending nearly every summer on her paternal grandmother’s farm in Crete. She was reportedly only a month old when she first traveled to the island, and those repeated childhood journeys became foundational to both her identity and her music. Her Greek roots remain deeply important to her, not simply as an influence but as a living part of the way she presents herself, writes and performs.

Credit: Courtesy of Anna Damergis

Long before the tours and streaming success, however, Evangelia followed a considerably more conventional path. She studied history and political science at Rutgers University and trained as a teacher, eventually working in elementary education while pursuing music on the side. At night, she performed in New York clubs after losing her teaching position amid budget cuts, she made the daunting decision to pursue music full-time.

It proved to be a consequential leap.

Evangelia began developing a sound that treated her two worlds not as competing identities but as complementary ones. Greek folk traditions – sometimes including distinctly Mediterranean instrumentation and the unmistakable character of the bouzouki – meet electronic production, dance-pop and the immediacy of American pop songwriting. She moves between Greek and English with similar ease.

Visually, Evangelia has fashioned an image that feels like a modern-day Greek goddess: glamorous, confident and unmistakably Mediterranean, yet entirely at home in contemporary pop. Her sultry sound, commanding dance moves, magnetic stage presence and deeply rooted Greek identity distinguish her in an increasingly crowded pop landscape. This modern-day Greek goddess has absolute staying power in the music industry – an artist with the talent, identity and presence to evolve while remaining unmistakably Evangelia.

Scroll to continue reading

Songs including Fotiá, Páli, Vradia and Vále helped transform that formula into a significant international following. Her debut album, Peproméno, pushed the idea further, using bilingual pop as a vehicle for heritage, identity and self-discovery. She has also served as Spotify’s first Greek Global EQUAL Ambassador and performed for audiences across Europe and the United States.

At the heart of this chapter is PARÉA, the theme song of The Paréa Tour and a natural expression of Evangelia’s musical world. The song’s spirit of friendship, community and celebration carries into its official music video and into PARÉA: The Prelude, the four-track project Evangelia released on April 30, 2026. The EP expands the song into an international pop gathering: the original PARÉA, PARÉA (co-starring Lena Zevgara), PARÉA (co-starring Miriana Conte & KIKI), and PARÉA (co-starring Dara Ekimova). Each collaboration gives the central song a different personality while reinforcing the idea behind the title – bringing artists, cultures and audiences together as one paréa.

Credit: Courtesy of Anna Damergis

The Paréa Tour has drawn an enthusiastic response from fans, who have embraced Evangelia’s authentic energy, her seamless blend of original contemporary pop with traditional Greek sounds, and the intimacy of a live show that can feel both personal and exhilaratingly high-energy. It’s onstage that the different sides of Evangelia – the Greek-American storyteller, dancer and thoroughly modern pop performer – come together most vividly.

Now Evangelia is taking that cultural conversation on the road with The Paréa Tour.

The title itself is revealing. Paréa is a Greek word whose meaning extends beyond simply “friends” – it evokes companionship, gathering and the particular pleasure of being together. It’s an especially fitting banner for an artist whose career has been built around bringing communities, languages and musical traditions into the same room. The 2026 tour travels through North America and Europe, with stops including Toronto, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., Athens, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix and London.

And Los Angeles gets its turn on Friday, Oct. 9, when Evangelia brings the Paréa Tour to The Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip.

For an artist raised between New Jersey and Crete, a night at the Roxy feels like another fitting meeting point.

Evangelia isn’t abandoning traditional Greek music in pursuit of mainstream pop, nor is she preserving it behind glass. She’s doing something more interesting: allowing those influences to live, move and evolve inside the music she makes now.

The result is colorful, proudly bilingual and increasingly international – a version of Greek pop that can carry memories of a Cretan summer straight onto a Los Angeles dance floor.

The Greek-American singer turns a childhood divided between New Jersey and Crete into an exuberant, border-crossing sound –…

[27
189221,92681,48,52,51,47,50,49,3155,16328,189222
post-482997","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-los-angeles","tag-evangelia","tag-greece","tag-la","tag-la-headlines","tag-la-news","tag-los-angeles","tag-los-angeles-headlines","tag-los-angeles-news","tag-new-jersey","tag-sunset-strip","tag-the-roxy-theatre
["GET
