National Weather Service has reported that a long-duration heat wave has arrived in Los Angeles: “Unfortunately, we don’t really see an end to it”

The National Weather Service has reported that a long-duration heatwave has hit Los Angeles and is expected to last until next Thursday at the least. National Weather Service Meteorologist Ryan Kittel says, “Unfortunately, we don’t really see an end to it as far as we can tell, and that’s probably the biggest thing we wanna highlight, is that while we have had hotter events this season already, this one might be the longest-lasting.”

The heatwave is being caused by a strong high-pressure system that arrived on the West Coast today, and will continue to increase in strength as the weekend progresses. Forecasters predict that temperatures may reach up to 95 degrees this Saturday, when the Dodgers play the Atlanta Braves. The National Weather Service warns that these conditions create a high risk for large and fast-moving fires in valleys and mountains, and urges residents to be cautious with ignition sources.

This heatwave comes after Los Angeles experienced an extremely humid summer, which contributed to the highest number of West Nile Virus cases in the county in nearly a decade. Forecasters believe a tropical storm off the coast may bring some humidity to coastal communities, slightly lowering temperatures. However, they predict that the heatwave will still bring far less humidity than summer.

The weather service urges residents to take precautions to avoid the risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Residents should remain in air-conditioned areas in the afternoon and evening hours, schedule outdoor activities for the early morning when temperatures are lower, stay hydrated, and check in on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly and those with children.

National Weather Service has reported that a long-duration heat wave has arrived in Los Angeles: “Unfortunately, we don’t…

[33
5221,426,36644,131,133,132,60,99203
post-483187","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-long-beach","tag-atlanta-braves","tag-dodgers","tag-heatwaves","tag-long-beach","tag-long-beach-headlines","tag-long-beach-news","tag-national-weather-service","tag-west-nile-virus
["GET
