(Oct. 2, 2026) \u2013 The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/sjbarracuda.com\/\">San Jose Barracuda<\/a> (<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/sjbarracuda\">@SJBarracuda<\/a>), proud <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/theahl.com\/\">AHL<\/a> (<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/theahl\">@TheAHL<\/a>) affiliate of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/sjsharks.com\/\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> (<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/sanjosesharks\">@SanJoseSharks<\/a>), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that forward <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/theahl.com\/stats\/player\/7897\">Jimmy Huntington<\/a> has been named team captain for the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Huntington, 27, served as an alternate captain during his first season with the Barracuda in 2025-26 and is entering his eighth professional campaign. The Laval, Quebec native is the seventh captain in Barracuda history and the first since <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/196941\/jimmy-schuldt\">Jimmy Schuldt<\/a> wore the \u201cC\u201d during the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">\u201cJimmy represents everything we look for in a leader,\u201d said Barracuda Head Coach <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/12262\/john-mccarthy\">John McCarthy<\/a>. \u201cFrom the moment he joined our team last year, he became an important part of our group. He\u2019s a winner, leads by example and always puts the team first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">In his first season with the Barracuda in 2025-26, Huntington produced a career year, recording 48 points (15 goals, 33 assists) in 71 games. He finished tied for second on the team in points and third in assists while establishing career highs in points, goals, assists, power-play goals (five) and games played. He also appeared in two Calder Cup Playoff games, collecting two points (one goal, one assist).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Huntington reached his 300th career AHL game on March 15 and was named the Barracuda\u2019s Fan Favorite award winner at the conclusion of the season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">The 6-foot, 200-pound forward has appeared in 315 career AHL regular-season games, totaling 165 points (59 goals, 106 assists) with San Jose, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wbspenguins.com\/\">Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hersheybears.com\/\">Hershey<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.milwaukeeadmirals.com\/\">Milwaukee<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/syracusecrunch.com\/\">Syracuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Huntington brings championship experience to the Barracuda dressing room, having helped the Hershey Bears capture the 2024 Calder Cup. During Hershey\u2019s championship run, he registered 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 20 postseason games, finishing tied for fourth on the Bears in playoff scoring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Originally signed by the Sharks as a free agent on July 1, 2025, Huntington re-signed with San Jose on a one-year, two-way contract on May 27, 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Prior to turning pro, Huntington spent five seasons in the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/lhjmq\/en\/\">Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League<\/a> (QMJHL) with <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/team\/881\/acadie-bathurst-titan\">Acadie-Bathurst<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/lhjmq-tigres\/\">Victoriaville<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/lhjmq-oceanic\/\">Rimouski<\/a>. In his final junior season in 2018-19, he recorded 92 points (40 goals, 52 assists) in 66 games and earned QMJHL Second All-Star Team honors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">The Barracuda open the 2026-27 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 3 against the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/sandiegogulls.com\/\">San Diego Gulls<\/a> at 3 p.m. Opening Night will feature a full-arena magnet schedule giveaway presented by Rotten Robbie.<\/p>\n<p>    <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SAN JOSE, Calif.
