<\/a><\/p>\nThe California Highway Patrol will begin a statewide maximum enforcement period Friday evening.<\/p>\n
CHP says the 12-hour effort will put more patrol cars on the road to identify and stop impaired drivers. The enforcement period begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at 5:59 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe message is clear: Impaired driving will not be tolerated on California roads. It is preventable, dangerous and puts every person nearby at risk. If you plan to drink or may be impaired, arrange a sober ride home. During this statewide enforcement period, CHP personnel of every rank will make it their mission to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roads,\u201d CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee said.<\/p>\n
From 2022 to 2024, alcohol- or drug-impaired driving contributed to an average of nearly 800 fatal crashes each year and more than 39,400 injury crashes on California roads, according to data from the California Highway Patrol\u2019s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System.<\/p>\n
