Dear Oakland Community,<\/p>\n
We are excited to announce that the City of Oakland kicked off its Subregional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (Oakland SSAP) this summer in coordination with the Oakland-Alameda Adaptation Committee (OAAC). The City of Oakland and the Port of Oakland are working on two planning efforts to help Oakland prepare for rising sea levels. Both projects share the same goal: a safe, accessible, and resilient shoreline for generations to come.<\/p>\n
Oakland has received a two-part grant award from the California Ocean Protection Council to complete the Oakland Adaptation Plan:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
Phase 1 of the Oakland Plan will update the Existing Conditions and Vulnerability Assessment analyses to meet new state and regional guidelines. The Adaptation Committee is leading this phase.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
Phase 2 of the Oakland Plan will focus on local projects, land use policies, and implementation.<\/p>\n

New Website! We have launched a new Shoreline Adaptation Plan webpage<\/a> where community members can learn about the project, get updates, and find ways to share their input. You can share the webpage with your networks and refer to the webpage for upcoming community events and progress reports.<\/p>\n
