Some\u00a0voters\u00a0may receive\u00a0their ballot\u00a0over the\u00a0weekend.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This election\u2019s ballot card has two pages, front and back. Voters can choose which contests to vote on.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Returning Your Mail\u00a0Ballot\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Every active registered voter will receive a ballot by mail\u202fand\u202fcan return it in one of three ways:\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By mail, with no\u202fpostage\u202frequired\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At any of the\u00a0Registrar\u2019s official ballot\u00a0drop boxes\u00a0starting Oct. 4\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At any\u00a0vote center\u202fstarting Oct. 24\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After marking their selections, voters should:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seal the ballot in the postage-paid return envelope.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Date and sign the envelope. The\u00a0voter\u2019s\u00a0signature\u00a0is\u00a0required\u00a0to ensure\u00a0the ballots\u00a0counts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mailed\u00a0ballots\u00a0must be postmarked\u00a0on or before\u00a0Nov. 3. The Registrar of Voters\u00a0must receive\u00a0mailed\u00a0ballots\u00a0no later than seven days\u00a0after Nov. 3\u00a0for them to be\u00a0counted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ballots returned at\u00a0official drop boxes or vote centers\u00a0must be dropped\u00a0by 8 p.m. on\u00a0Nov. 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Voters\u00a0can\u00a0track their ballot\u00a0to know when it is mailed,\u00a0received\u00a0and counted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/california.ballottrax.net\/voter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">signing\u00a0up<\/a>\u00a0for the California Secretary of States ballot tracking service.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0Official\u00a0Ballot\u00a0Packet?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The official ballot packet will include\u00a0voting instructions,\u00a0a two-card\u00a0ballot\u00a0and\u00a0an \u201cI Voted\u201d sticker.\u00a0Additional\u00a0information, including\u00a0candidate statements, official ballot drop box\u00a0locations\u00a0and\u00a0vote\u00a0centers, is available\u00a0in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdvote.com\/content\/rov\/en\/sample-ballot-info-lookup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">voter information pamphlet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What\u00a0Do\u00a0Official\u00a0Ballot\u00a0Drop\u00a0Boxes\u00a0Look\u00a0Like?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Registrar of Voters\u2019\u00a0official ballot drop boxes are red,\u00a0white\u00a0and blue and feature the Registrar\u2019s logo along with the County seal. All boxes are labeled \u201cOfficial Ballot Drop Box.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each official ballot drop box is\u00a0made from\u00a0high-grade, heavy-gauge stainless steel\u00a0to prevent physical damage\u00a0and\u00a0unauthorized access.\u00a0Security features\u00a0include:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Double-locking access doors\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A fire suppression system\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only the\u00a0Registrar\u2019s ballot retrieval team\u00a0collects the\u00a0ballots\u00a0from these\u00a0boxes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Registrar\u202fof Voters\u202fOffice\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In-person voting\u202fbegins\u202fMonday,\u202fOct. 5, at the Registrar of Voters office\u202fat\u202f5600 Overland Ave.\u202fin Kearney Mesa.\u202fThe office is open from\u202f8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vote Centers\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/b3cb0808081a40808324b9ae9be37e49\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Vote centers<\/a>\u00a0open in phases to support early voting and\u00a0reduce wait times.\u00a0\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 24: Select\u202fvote\u202fcenters open daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 31: All vote centers open daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nov. 3: Final day of voting: All\u202fvote\u202fcenters, official ballot\u202fdrop\u202fboxes and the Registrar\u2019s office\u202fare\u202fopen 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to vote in person, remember\u00a0that this election includes a\u00a0two-card ballot.\u00a0To save time at the vote center, review your\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdvote.com\/content\/rov\/en\/sample-ballot-info-lookup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">voter information pamphlet<\/a>\u202fahead of time and mark your selections on the sample ballot.
