Chernyshov also had an assist, Tyler Toffoli<\/a> had a goal and an assist, and Celebrini had two assists for the Sharks, who started their season 2-0-0 for the first time since 2021-22. Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> and Nolan Allan<\/a> also scored, and Yaroslav Askarov<\/a>\u00a0made 31 saves.<\/p>\n

“We won the game, that’s good, but we gotta get going here,” Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “We can put the puck in the net, but we’re trying to win a lot of hockey games and go do something in\u00a0the spring. And you have to play a certain way, or you won’t. We can’t just rely on skill.”<\/p>\n

Adrian Kempe<\/a>, Artemi Panarin<\/a>, and Quinton Byfield<\/a> each had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who are 0-1-1 after losing their season opener to the Colorado Avalanche 8-4 on Wednesday. Brandt Clarke<\/a> had two assists, and Forsberg made 20 saves in his season debut.<\/p>\n

“I mean, it’s tough. The score didn’t go our way. I thought there was a ton of fight in the end,” Kings coach Peter Laviolette said. “I really liked the way we played the overtime but hate the result.”<\/p>\n

Kempe put the Kings up 1-0 with a power-play goal at 15:50 of the first period. Panarin fed a seam pass from the left face-off circle to Kempe at the right face-off circle, and his one-timer beat Askarov by the blocker.<\/p>\n

“We had some really good looks early. It is nice to get on the board, nice for the whole line to get on the board,” Kempe said. “I thought we were really good all night long.”<\/p>\n

Toffoli tied it at 1-1 with a power-play goal 1:48 into the second period. Ivar Stenberg<\/a>\u00a0walked down the left wing and found Toffoli at the right post for the open tap-in. It was the first NHL point for Stenberg, the No. 2 pick of the 2026 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

“He’s a great player,\u201d Toffoli said. \u201cHe does everything on the ice.
