A wrong-way driver crashed on southbound Interstate 5 near Hood Franklin Road early Sunday, killing at least one person and temporarily closing the freeway, according to South Sacramento California Highway Patrol incident logs.<\/p>\n

The crash was first reported around 3:15 a.m. after a caller reported a light colored sedan involved in a collision with another vehicle.<\/p>\n

According to the incident log, one vehicle was reported driving the wrong way on southbound I-5, traveling northbound. The log said the vehicle went into a ditch.<\/p>\n

Officials from South Sacramento California Highway Patrol said the wrong way driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The other car\u2019s driver was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.<\/p>\n

Authorities began a hard closure of the freeway around 3:39 a.m.<\/p>\n

The crash caused traffic delays as crews worked to clear the scene. By about 4:26 a.m., all lanes were reported open, and the closure was lifted shortly afterward.<\/p>\n
