Their goal is to enhance drinks with what they call “nature’s edible works of art.”

“You know, it’s a simple citrus slice that you can add to water or anything else, and it just elevates the drink,” said Andrea Lorente. “And really, if you think about it, you want to make moments special, even if it’s, you know, you’re just hanging out with friends at home.”

Working together in their Sacramento warehouse, the sisters value the opportunity to combine business with family time.

“And a lot of the times, you know, everybody works for jobs, and you don’t get to see your family very often,” Lorente said. “But when you work together, you’re making memories while you’re working. And it’s something beautiful, part of our culture.”

For the Nunez sisters, the business is about more than just selling dried fruit—it’s about honoring their family’s legacy.

“It’s something that my grandfather actually came to the United States through the movement, and he worked the fields in California,” said Adreana Alvarez. “So the fact that he actually worked in these fields, then years later, my dad ended up owning businesses in California, and one of the businesses that he owned was actually a produce company. So it’s crazy how all of our hands have touched produce or worked with produce in California and then us.”

Lorente described the venture as “almost like a full circle moment.”

The sisters have also welcomed their sister-in-law, Jeanette, into the business.

“And just hearing the stories about their grandfather, it warms my heart,” Jeanette Nunez said. “And it also inspires me because I want to make sure my boys, they know their family history.”

Each sister plays a unique role in the company.

“I’m in charge of finding the factories, finding the farm,” said Alvarez. “Jeanette already knew what the assets were going to be. Andrea already knew the business plan and the step one through ten.”

She added, “Jeanette is the visuals girly. She’s the one that makes us look aesthetically. It makes the vision come true. Andrea, my older sister, because she is also the matriarch. She keeps us in place. She keeps our finances in place.”

Their six employees have also become like family.

“You know, really continuing that legacy, working together and really building something for the future generations,” Lorente said.

As Latinas and mothers, the sisters are creating their own legacy while celebrating sisterhood and sweet success.

This story was produced as part of our 2026 Project CommUNITY special for Hispanic Heritage Month.

See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel.

Sacramento sisters honor family legacy with dried fruit business Three sisters in Sacramento have launched Stained Glass Fruit,…

[32
189807,189812,189818,189806,387,7,189809,512,1804,189810,1431,27683,2471,6308,189820,5344,189808,60891,189815,189816,124395,189805,189814,1459,1410,189817,189813,121,123,122,189819,189811,15158,189804,3044
post-485450","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sacramento","tag-adreana-nunez-alvarez","tag-agricultural-legacy","tag-andrea-lorente","tag-andrea-nunez-lorente","tag-business","tag-california","tag-california-citrus","tag-central-valley","tag-company","tag-dried-fruit","tag-family","tag-family-business","tag-family-legacy","tag-field","tag-fruit-business","tag-hispanic-heritage-month","tag-jeanette-nunez","tag-latinas","tag-lemon-slices","tag-lime-slices","tag-mothers","tag-nunez-sisters","tag-orange-slices","tag-part","tag-place","tag-produce-company","tag-project-community","tag-sacramento","tag-sacramento-headlines","tag-sacramento-news","tag-sacramento-sister","tag-sacramento-warehouse","tag-sister","tag-stained-glass-fruit","tag-story
["GET
