It was getting the community more involved in special events within Parks and Recreation,” Peru said. “They’re so glad that they can come to a mini swap meet, a one-stop shop to look at everything.”

Residents were given an opportunity to sell belongings that served their purpose and are in need of a new home while shoppers searched for secondhand items at a variety of prices.

Rather than visiting individual yard sales throughout the city, Fullerton residents had a chance to shop from multiple vendors in one location.

Tables lined the park as shoppers moved between booths and vendors displayed a variety of items for sale, including clothing, exercise equipment, toys and decor, jewelry and furniture.

Akane Sanchez and Jenna Scotese, Garden Grove residents, were among the vendors at the event. Both are alumni of Cal State Fullerton and showed up to the yard sale in hopes of supporting the community. The pair sold apparel, jewelry and household items.

“Community yard sales are easier to participate in rather than a standalone yard sale, especially when you live in a gated community,” Sanchez said.

The heat wave created an additional challenge for vendors who spent the morning outside. Sanchez said the Fullerton Parks and Recreation staff were supportive as vendors looked for relief from the heat.

“It’s really hot today and they’ve been really accommodating about letting us move around with the shade,” Sanchez said.”Everybody’s been really nice.”

Stephanie Cardenas, another vendor at the event and a Fullerton resident, brought products from her new 3D printing business, including fidgets, hair pins, coffin drawers and a variety of other Halloween decorations.

For Cardenas, the yard sale was an opportunity to introduce her new business to local shoppers while getting a sense of what products people were interested in.

“It’s been great. I mean, other than the weather, we would hope it was a little bit cooler,” Cardenas said. “Everyone’s been really nice coming by and saying hi and seeing what we have to offer.”

The wide variety of goods allowed shoppers to browse without necessarily knowing what they would find. The goods that vendors offered gave Fullerton residents an opportunity to purchase previously owned goods or discover something new.

For vendors, the event provided a way to clear out belongings, sell products and connect with other residents.

The Community Yard Sale was part of Fullerton’s 2026 schedule of quarterly yard sales and the Oct. 3 sale marked the final one scheduled for the year. The yard sale series gave Fullerton residents a place to buy, sell and reuse goods while spending a Saturday morning connecting with members of their community.

A fall heat wave didn’t keep shoppers away Saturday as Fullerton residents gathered at Independence Park to hunt…

[36
163,165,164,186201,189950,189952,611,189951
post-485966","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-anaheim","tag-anaheim","tag-anaheim-headlines","tag-anaheim-news","tag-fullerton-city","tag-fullerton-community","tag-oc-culture","tag-orange-county","tag-yard-sale
["GET
