SAN JOSE \u2014 A man died Friday from injuries he suffered nearly three weeks ago when he was hit by a driver in San Jose, police said.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 13 near the intersection of South King Road and Biscayne Way, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, she said. While the man was later stabilized, he died from his injuries last week.<\/p>\n

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin are notified.<\/p>\n

Shih said an investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing South King Road outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a driver traveling northbound in a 2014 Chevrolet SS.<\/p>\n

The male driver stayed at the scene, called 911 and cooperated with the investigation, Shih said, adding that police do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.<\/p>\n

The incident marked the city\u2019s 39th traffic fatality of 2026. At this point last year, police had investigated 27 traffic fatalities on city streets.<\/p>\n
