{"id":486678,"date":"2026-10-06T07:56:50","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T07:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/486678\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T07:56:50","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T07:56:50","slug":"swat-team-arrests-suspect-in-fatal-fresno-tower-district-shooting-police-chief-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/486678\/","title":{"rendered":"SWAT team arrests suspect in fatal Fresno Tower District shooting, police chief says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A 19-year-old man suspected of killing a 28-year-old man in Fresno&#8217;s Tower District on Sept. 26 was arrested Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto said Jeremiah Listman was arrested after the department&#8217;s SWAT team assisted homicide detectives in the area of Fruit and Olive avenues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Casto said officers were serving an arrest warrant for Listman when they had to breach the door and use a flash-bang device after he did not come outside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Authorities found Listman inside the home and took him into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to Casto, Listman and several friends were in the Tower District when they encountered 28-year-old Tyrone Miles and his friends, leading to an exchange of words just after 2:50 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Casto said Listman yelled out his gang affiliation before turning to walk away. He then turned back toward Miles and allegedly fired a shot, striking Miles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Listman fled the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A nearby officer responded to Miles and performed life-saving measures before Miles was taken to a hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Casto said Miles and Listman did not know each other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Casto also said Listman had a history with police and was out on bond in connection with an <a data-ylk=\"slk:April 2 stabbing;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article315285879.html\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">April 2 stabbing<\/a> at Fulton Mall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;He was one of the suspects involved in that case where there was stabbing and a subsequent person stomping on another,&#8221; Casto said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-2407 or 559-621-2451.
