A pedestrian in her 70s who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Long Beach last month was identified by county authorities Monday.<\/p>\n
Yolanda Hernandez, 76, died at a hospital after suffering traumatic injuries in the crash, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
According to the Long Beach Police Department, Hernandez was struck at about 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Baltic Avenue and Burnett Street.<\/p>\n
She was walking northbound in a marked crosswalk on Baltic when she was struck by a white pickup truck traveling southbound and attempting to turn east onto Burnett, police said. The driver continued eastbound on Burnett without stopping as required.<\/p>\n
Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the woman to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving appeared to be factors in the collision, according to a preliminary investigation.<\/p>\n
