OAKLAND \u2014 Two men were shot at their East Oakland home early Monday and a roommate of about a week was arrested after a standoff with police, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Both wounded men \u2014 cousins, authorities said, one 29 and the other 33 \u2014 were in stable condition at a hospital.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened about 2:01 a.m. Monday inside a residence in the 3200 block of Lynde Street, a residential area in the Patten district.<\/p>\n
According to initial police reports, the two wounded men had invited the suspect, a 56-year-old man, to live with them about a week ago.<\/p>\n
The three got into a dispute that turned into a physical altercation, which ended with the 56-year-old man allegedly shooting the other two, according to the reports. Police have not said what the dispute was about.<\/p>\n
The wounded men were able to get out of the home on their own and call police.<\/p>\n
When officers responded, the suspect refused to come out. Additional officers, including members of the SWAT team,\u00a0 responded and negotiations with the suspect began. He surrendered about 5:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
