In advance of next summer, Southwest is once again doubling down on San Diego flights, with plans to expand two key routes, resume seasonal service to four destinations and add a new nonstop.<\/p>\n
In a companywide announcement last week, the airline said it will resume seasonal service between San Diego and Bozeman, Mont.; Columbus; Milwaukee; and Pittsburgh. And in a first for Southwest, it will start flying once a week \u2014 on Sundays \u2014 to Oklahoma City. Once that service starts, Southwest will be the only airline offering a nonstop flight between San Diego and Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n
The added service, says the airline, will bring up to 150 trips to San Diego for the summer of 2027.<\/p>\n
In addition to the expanded summer flight schedule, Southwest said it will be increasing year-round frequencies to two destinations it already serves \u2014 Austin, which will have as many as six nonstops on peak days, and Seattle, with three trips each weekday.<\/p>\n
Southwest noted in its announcement that the added San Diego flights, in addition to other changes coming nationwide, will together mark the airline\u2019s largest-ever summer schedule. All summer flights are now available for booking, the airline said.<\/p>\n
San Diego\u2019s new nonstop to Oklahoma City will be seasonal, operating once a week on Sundays, from June 6 to Aug. 1.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re always looking for new routes to offer more to our customers in more areas,\u201d said Southwest spokesperson Chris Perry. \u201cOklahoma City is a market we\u2019ve served for a long time, and we look forward to bringing customers to experience summer in San Diego or to connect on to our international or Hawaii service from San Diego.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the four cities where seasonal service is returning, schedules will vary, Southwest said. Bozeman flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays; the Columbus and Milwaukee nonstops will operate six days a week, with no flights on Saturdays; and the Pittsburgh flights will be on Sundays only, Perry said.<\/p>\n
Flights to Bozeman last operated between June and September, while nonstop service to Columbus and Milwaukee are scheduled to continue through early April and then resume in June, according to the San Diego airport. The Pittsburgh flight will continue through early March before returning for the summer season.<\/p>\n
