The community continues to remember her service and sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mt-3 overflow-auto whitespace-pre-wrap break-words text-sm\">The crash happened on October 6 last year on Highway 50. The flight originated in Redding, stopped in Red Bluff, then at UC Davis Medical Center before crashing as it was taking off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mt-3 overflow-auto whitespace-pre-wrap break-words text-sm\">3 people were onboard the helicopter. Flight nurse Susie Smith, pilot Chad Millward and paramedic Margaret &#8220;Dede&#8221; Davis were all injured in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mt-3 overflow-auto whitespace-pre-wrap break-words text-sm\">Smith later passed away from her injuries. She was honored earlier this year during the National EMS Memorial Service&#8217;s &#8220;Moving Honors&#8221; procession.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mt-3 overflow-auto whitespace-pre-wrap break-words text-sm\">The crash marked a tragic loss for the Redding medical community.
