Last season, the Spartans didn&#8217;t get their third win until Nov. 1.<br \/>\nAfter beating Hawai\u2018i, the Spartans have won their last two Mountain West Conference openers when on the road.<br \/>\nUnder head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/staff\/ken-niumatalolo\" title=\"Ken Niumatalolo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ken Niumatalolo<\/a>, the Spartans are 9-3 when they have more takeaways than the opponent, 2-2 when they are even, and 2-12 when they lose the turnover battle.<br \/>\nThe Spartans have had three takeaways against Wyoming in each of the last two meetings.<br \/>\nAccording to Pro Football Focus (PFF), <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/luke-weaver\" title=\"Luke Weaver\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Weaver<\/a> was the No. 2-graded quarterback in week zero with a 90.4 grade, and after two weeks.<br \/>\nWeaver leads the MW and is 21st in the country with 11 passing touchdowns, and is second in the MW and 23rd in the country with 1,278 passing yards.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/dylan-lee\" title=\"Dylan Lee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan Lee<\/a> had a career-high 11 tackles vs. Fresno State (09\/19\/26) and has 44 total tackles, which is good for second in the MW and 17th in the country.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/carson-clark\" title=\"Carson Clark\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carson Clark<\/a>\u00a0caught his fourth touchdown of the season at Hawai\u2018i (10\/03\/26). Clark leads the MW and is 20th in the country in receiving touchdowns.<br \/>\nClark has five or more receptions in all five games this season. The last freshman to do this in five straight games was <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/noel-grigsby\" title=\"Noel Grigsby\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Noel Grigsby<\/a> in 2010; his streak ended at six games. <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/tyler-winston\" title=\"Tyler Winston\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Winston<\/a> was the last freshman to do this in five total games during a season (2013).<br \/>\nAgainst Eastern Michigan (09\/04\/26), <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/cooper-hoch\" title=\"Cooper Hoch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Hoch<\/a> had a career day, posting his first two touchdown receptions and 115 receiving yards on five catches. Hoch also had a career-best 51-yard reception. Hoch had his third touchdown catch of the season against Cal Poly (09\/12\/26) and is second in the MW in receiving touchdowns.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/jeremiah-tuiileila\" title=\"Jeremiah Tuiileila\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremiah Tuiileila<\/a> was named to the PFF Group of Six defensive team after his three tackles, one tackle for loss, and three quarterback hurries at Eastern Michigan (09\/04\/26).<br \/>\nTuiileila is the fourth highest-rated edge defender in the FBS according to PFF with a 90.7 grade, and leads the team with 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/justin-stearns\" title=\"Justin Stearns\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Justin Stearns<\/a> is the 11th highest-rated edge defender in the FBS according to PFF with an 87.4 grade and has two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/caleb-womack-1\" title=\"Caleb Womack\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Caleb Womack<\/a> was the No. 4-graded cornerback with a 75.1 grade and was No.1 in defensive tackling with an 84.7 grade in week zero, according to PFF. Womack had his first career interception against Cal Poly (09\/12\/26) and his second at Hawai\u2018i (10\/03\/26).<br \/>\nWomack has five or more tackles in every game this season and is third in the MW and 14th in the country with two interceptions.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/jabari-bates\" title=\"Jabari Bates\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jabari Bates<\/a> is the 58th highest-rated FBS running back in the country, according to PFF, with a 77.8 grade. He is first in the MW and 18th in the country with 487 rushing yards.<br \/>\nBates\u00a0has had 27 carries in two of his last three games. He is the first running back to have 27 carries in a game since <a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/tyler-nevens\" title=\"Tyler Nevens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Nevens<\/a> in 2021. The last time a Spartan running back had two games with at least 27 carries was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sjsuspartans.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/player\/tyler-ervin\" title=\"Tyler Ervin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Ervin<\/a> in 2015.<br \/>\nBates is fourth in the country and first in the MW with 104 carries this season.<br \/>\nThrough five games, the Spartans have 170 rushing attempts. Last season, the Spartans ran the ball a total of 317 times, which was the third fewest in the country.<br \/>\nThrough four games in 2026, the Spartans have 173 passing attempts and 170 rushing attempts.<br \/>\n\u00a0SJSU is 5-1 when holding Wyoming to 21 or fewer points and 2-7 when Wyoming scored 24 or more.<br \/>\nThe Spartans have played three straight games vs. Wyoming, where they&#8217;ve had a wide receiver hit 100 receiving yards.<br \/>\nSJSU hasn&#8217;t allowed Wyoming to have a 100-yard rusher in three straight games.<br \/>\nSince 2020, the Spartans are 39-36 (.520), which is good for the second-best record out of Mountain West returning teams. Only Air Force (44-29, .603) has a better winning percentage over that time among returning Mountain West schools.<br \/>\nClark\u00a0has 314 receiving yards, which is second in the MW and 74th in the country.
