SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

The Aftershock festival in Sacramento celebrated its biggest year yet, drawing over 160,000 attendees across four days at Discovery Park, but some fans are now calling for enhanced security measures.

Kat Rose, a woman who has been attending the festival since 2021, said she was inappropriately touched during the festival and struggled to find security personnel to report the incident, only finding police officers stationed at the entrance.

“I was literally yelling at the top of my lungs. I was waving friends to go get security, and they pretty much never found anybody until we got all the way to the cops,” Rose said. “I was just more concerned that this guy was just going to do something and go get away with it and then probably do it to somebody else.”

Rose shared her experience on social media and said she received numerous responses from others who had similar experiences. She then started a petition on Change.org, urging Aftershock organizers to hire more security. Nearly 1,000 people have signed the petition as of Tuesday afternoon.

“I think among the community we’re like, we don’t want people to go through things like this,” Rose said. “I don’t think anybody should feel unsafe going to a festival.”

Danny Wimmer Presents, the festival’s organizer, responded to the concerns, stating that safety and security are its top priorities.

“Safety and security is our top priority at Aftershock. More than 600 dedicated security personnel were deployed each day during festival hours, including local law enforcement. Our security operation includes close planning and coordination with the Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento County Rangers and six private security companies.

We encourage fans to report any incident immediately to festival staff, security personnel or law enforcement. If someone is unable to immediately locate security, they can go to any medical or Guest Services location, where our teams can connect them with the appropriate resources.

We encourage anyone who experienced an incident that has not yet been reported to contact the Sacramento Police Department. Individuals may also contact DWP directly at info@aftershockfestival.com to ensure the matter can be appropriately reviewed and addressed.”

Rose said she hopes for changes in the future for the festival that she loves.

“I love going every year. I love going with my friends. We have a good time. Also, I want 16-year-olds to feel safe. You know, I want people to bring their kids and be okay and not have to watch over their shoulder if somebody is going to be weird, you know?” she said. “We’re always a good community. But I don’t want the bad people to tarnish that.”

Sacramento police reported no major security issues during the event. Officers took a few misdemeanor reports, issued two misdemeanor cite/arrests, and made one DUI arrest.

See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel.

Hundreds of people have signed a Change.org petition encouraging Aftershock to hire more security SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The…

[32
30012,190451,190452,143758,10800,30985,190450,190446,83099,217,48260,25725,1404,190448,190443,190444,159714,4456,190447,11788,190449,47793,592,190445,121,134563,123,122,9113,3607,153029,17345,4119
post-487566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sacramento","tag-aftershock","tag-aftershock-attendee","tag-aftershock-organizer","tag-california-stories","tag-change","tag-change-org-petition","tag-concert-safety","tag-crowd-safety","tag-danny-wimmer-presents","tag-day","tag-discovery-park","tag-dui-arrest","tag-festival","tag-festival-attendees","tag-festival-security","tag-improved-security","tag-inappropriate-touching","tag-incident","tag-kat-rose","tag-local-law-enforcement","tag-misdemeanor-reports","tag-more-security","tag-people","tag-record-breaking-festival","tag-sacramento","tag-sacramento-county-rangers","tag-sacramento-headlines","tag-sacramento-news","tag-sacramento-police-department","tag-safety","tag-security-concerns","tag-security-personnel","tag-top
["GET
