{"id":487656,"date":"2026-10-07T04:16:28","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T04:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/487656\/"},"modified":"2026-10-07T04:16:28","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T04:16:28","slug":"men-killed-in-two-east-bay-freeway-collisions-are-identified-the-mercury-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/487656\/","title":{"rendered":"Men killed in two East Bay freeway collisions are identified \u2013 The Mercury News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Alameda County Coroner\u2019s Bureau on Tuesday identified two men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastbaytimes.com\/2026\/10\/05\/five-people-killed-in-separate-east-bay-collisions-over-weekend\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">killed in freeway traffic collisions<\/a> Friday in Berkeley and Hayward.<\/p>\n<p>A man who suffered fatal injuries about 3:30 p.m. Friday when his pickup truck collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer on westbound Interstate 80 at Ashby Avenue was identified as Bradley Marshall, 39, of Danville.<\/p>\n<p>The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>A motorcyclist who suffered fatal injuries about 12:16 p.m. Friday on state Highway 92 in Hayward was identified as Herman Velez, 61, of Redwood City.<\/p>\n<p>Velez was splitting lanes on the eastbound Highway 92 transition to Interstate 880 when he collied with a box truck and was ejected onto the roadway, the CHP said.
