A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Modesto on Monday, according to police. <\/p>\n

The Modesto Police Department said a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle around 4 p.m. near Needham Street and McHenry Avenue. <\/p>\n

Police said a white Chevrolet Silverado was driving on Needham Street and entered an alley west of McHenry Avenue. As the vehicle was going through the alley, it collided with a 63-year-old bicyclist who was traveling westbound on Alice Street. <\/p>\n

The driver fled the scene following the crash, police said. <\/p>\n

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity will not be released until his next of kin is notified. <\/p>\n

Investigators identified the vehicle and later found it driving in Modesto. Officers pulled the vehicle over near 9th and M streets and contacted the driver, who was identified as 33-year-old Manuel Cerrillo-Mendoza. <\/p>\n

Police said Cerrillo-Mendoza was allegedly driving under the influence. Officers also found that he had a DUI-related history. <\/p>\n

Cerrillo-Mendoza was arrested and booked into jail on murder and DUI charges, police said.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation. <\/p>\n

Police said the hit-and-run is the city’s 10th fatal traffic collision this year. <\/p>\n
