"GennaSAN FRANCISCO —

Get ready to look up.

There’s still time to head out to this year’s San Francisco Fleet Week. It began Sunday, Oct. 4 and is continuing through Monday, Oct. 12. It will be filling the skies and waterfront with action.

The city will celebrate the nation’s sea services with the Blue Angels, a parade of ships, ship tours and more.

So whether you’re into high-flying air shows or want to get up close to the ships, there’s plenty to see for the entire family.

The Fleet Week Air Show runs from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 11, featuring the Blue Angels, a United Airlines 777 and more.

You can watch from along the bay between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz or grab a ticketed seat at Marina Green. Gates open at 10 a.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On the water, the Fleet Week parade of ships will sail into the San Francisco Bay on Friday morning, Oct. 9. From 11 a.m. to noon, you can watch the fleet arrive near the Golden Gate Bridge.

A San Francisco Fire Department boat will lead the way by shooting water into the air. The parade can be seen from waterfront spots between the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges.

Folks can also climb aboard several U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships for public ship tours. Tours are available at Pier 27 and Pier 35 on Oct. 7 through Oct. 12. Times vary by day.

It’s a chance to step aboard, explore the ships and get a closer look at life for the sailors who serve on them. All ship tours are free of charge. Tour lines are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fleet Week will also take a moment to honor the U.S. service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Honor Our Fallen Concert takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Marines’ Memorial Theatre in San Francisco.

It features the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Marine Division Band. The concert is free and open to the public, but advance reservations are required.

Starting Friday, Oct. 9, San Francisco is putting some new traffic rules in place as Fleet Week crowds roll into the city. NBC Bay Area reports autonomous vehicles will be restricted from picking up or dropping off passengers along much of the waterfront from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday.

Driverless taxis will also be restricted from entering the Presidio under the plan, according to NBC Bay Area. Public transit, taxis, rideshares and private cars can still get through.

SAN FRANCISCO — Get ready to look up.
