Well, hello there, Maiden Lane. McMullen has officially landed in Union Square, and Sherri McMullen\u2019s new outpost is giving us a fresh reason to shop downtown.<\/p>\n
Opening a store on Maiden Lane is a literal dream come true for the tastemaker-slash-fashion-authority<\/a>. It\u2019s a surprise to no one that the 6,342-square-foot flagship is a stunner. (Phoning it in is not in Ms. McMullen<\/a>\u2019s vocabulary.) But the luxury boutique is more than just large: It\u2019s moody, inviting, immersive, and filled with fashion eye candy and design surprises aplenty.<\/p>\n Created with interior designer Gabriella Khalil<\/a>, the store plays off the building\u2019s existing architecture with warm brown and deep-burgundy moments, exposed brick, lacquered surfaces, fab vintage furniture, and statement artwork by Aisling Camps and Mickalene Thomas.<\/p>\n This is not a grab-a-dress-and-go kind of place; shopping here is really an experience. Even the dressing rooms are extra chic (and carpeted). Trying on clothing feels very glam, very fancy-lady.<\/p>\n McMullen\u2019s signature mix of established names and emerging designers is out in force, including favorites Dries Van Noten, Diotima, Proenza Schouler, Christopher John Rogers, Burc Akyol, Tibi, Kallmeyer, and Heirlome. There\u2019s also a dedicated beauty and fragrance edit with Vintner\u2019s Daughter, Irene Forte, D.S. & Durga, and Trudon among the many, many temptations. (As if we needed another reason to linger.)<\/p>\n The Maiden Lane move is a pretty major moment for McMullen, who founded her namesake store in Oakland in 2007. Fast-forward to today, and it\u2019s one of the Bay Area\u2019s most distinctive fashion destinations: McMullen was recently named one of Business of Fashion\u2019s Best Retailers in the World for 2026. Not too shabby.<\/p>\n Even with her success, McMullen\u2019s raison d\u2019\u00eatre remains the same: creating a place where discovery feels personal\u2014and where you might walk in looking for one thing and walk out thinking, Wait, how did I not know I needed that?<\/p>\n Sounds like our kind of shopping problem.<\/p>\n P.S. A covetable crew of indie female-run brands will be on hand for a very fashionable afternoon (noon to 6pm) of serious retail therapy.<\/p>\n We speak of jewelry, fashion, home fragrance, skincare, and accessories\u2014all handpicked by the lovely lady artists<\/a> behind Oxide and their extended creative community. Longtime Oxide partner Amanda Hunt Jewelry<\/a> will debut one-of-a-kind and limited-edition gold pieces with singular gemstones, while Berkeley design darling Erica Tanov<\/a> brings her trademark relaxed clothing and nature-inspired home goods. The weekly assortment? Flush with laid-back luxury for work, weekends, and that wedding you forgot was coming up. In other words, pieces that fit in the wheelhouse of the style-conscious.<\/p>\n Reformation\u2019s techy Retail X setup is also present, which means you won\u2019t have to dig through racks looking for other sizes.
