The person was arrested on suspicion of arson and committing a felony while on release for a previous case.<\/p>\n<p>The fire broke out around 4:45 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Central Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Police said officers and firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from a first-floor unit. The flames were spreading to adjacent units and trapping residents on the upper floors.<\/p>\n<p>Two residents suffered injuries, including one who jumped from a third-floor unit to escape the flames.<\/p>\n<p>Half of the apartment complex\u2019s 12 units sustained significant damage, according to Alameda fire officials. The fire displaced at least a dozen residents, including the two who were injured.
