The guns included an unserialized pistol, an allegedly stolen handgun, and an assault rifle, according to authorities.

Now, 20-year-old Abdulla Musleh has been charged with selling Oxycodone and marijuana out of the store. He also faces a felony charge of possessing an assault weapon and another felony count of operating false compartments, court records show. In a police interview following the raid, Musleh denied being the operator and said was merely “an employee” of the store, authorities said.

Musleh pleaded not guilty and is next due in court on Oct. 20, records show.

Police say they followed up on a tip about illegal activity at the store, which is located near the intersection of E Street and 105th Avenue. In 2024, it was the scene of two homicides, one of which occurred inside the store itself. The other involved a man who allegedly appeared outside the store several times a week to sell marijuana, according to court records.

Authorities allege that Musleh kept hidden compartments around the store that could be operated with an electronic beeper and contained illicit wares. The firearms were reportedly found in a bedroom that adjoined the building. Despite his claim of being only an employee, police claim Musleh and a family member shared operations duties.

All told, police say they seized 24 pounds of THC products, including not only suspected loose leaf marijuana but drinks containing cannabis. About an ounce of suspected Oxycodone pills and more than $15,000 in cash were also taken by police during the raid.

Musleh has been released from jail but a judge ordered him not to sell drugs while he is out, court records show.

In 2024, police investigated two homicides at the market. Both subsequent prosecutions ran into serious problems, for the same basic reason: so many of the involved parties were armed or purported to be.

On July 1, 2024, 25-year-old Devonya Thurston was killed inside the store after another man, Josiah Dempsey, attempted to shake his hand but Thurston brushed him off. During the confrontation that followed, Dempsey allegedly retrieved an assault weapon from his pants and killed Thurston. He pleaded no contest to a gun charge and was released from jail after the defense argued Thurston had walked out of view from surveillance cameras and returned with a firearm to threaten Dempsey.

Two months later, gunfire erupted outside the store when a teen suspected of selling pot, Keyante Reed, allegedly engaged in a shootout with at least two others. Lamar Payne, 50, was shot and killed. Police identified one of the suspected shooters as Michai Adams, a well-known rapper who performs under the stage name ChaiBenjii4, but he pleaded no contest to a gun charge and the murder charge was dismissed.

Adams was released from prison earlier this year. Reed’s murder case seemed to be following the same fate; his lawyer argued the case was trumped up and that Reed had acted in self-defense. But after a judge who described Reed as a “wonderful young man” released him from jail, there was a wrinkle: Reed allegedly shot and killed a man at his home in Stanislaus County, and is now listed as a fugitive with two pending murder charges, court records show.

OAKLAND — The suspected operator of a liquor store that was the scene of two homicides has been…

[34
861,862,49881,191122,143,191124,145,191121,864,144,191123
post-489586","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-oakland","tag-bay-area-crime","tag-california-crime","tag-chaibenjii4","tag-go-go-amigo","tag-oakland","tag-oakland-drug-dealing","tag-oakland-headlines","tag-oakland-liquor-store-raid","tag-oakland-murder","tag-oakland-news","tag-oakland-shootings
["GET
