A collision on state Route 67 north of Poway Road near Ellie Lane caused detours around the accident on Thursday morning until about 2 p.m. that afternoon.<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s are investigating the collision, Sheriff\u2019s Lt. Joe Barry said. The identities of the drivers are not yet known, but one person died at the scene and another was transported to a hospital, Barry said.<\/p>\n
Northbound drivers were being diverted to Poway Road just before the site of the collision, Barry said. Southbound drivers were asked to turn around at Archie Moore Road, he said.<\/p>\n
The collision was reported at 6:08 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8. Deputies reported that a pickup truck was traveling northbound on SR-67 when it went into the southbound lane and collided with another pickup truck. Deputies and firefighters immediately began rendering aid but one of the pickup drivers died at the scene, the Sheriff\u2019s Office reported in a news release.
