{"id":489932,"date":"2026-10-09T03:08:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T03:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/489932\/"},"modified":"2026-10-09T03:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T03:08:13","slug":"rainbow-wahine-to-face-san-jose-state-in-mountain-west-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/489932\/","title":{"rendered":"Rainbow Wahine to face San Jose State in Mountain West clash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; The University of Hawaii volleyball team is on a roll.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">UH has been a force in the mountain west conference slate, 4-0 and tied with UC Davis for first place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Their four-consecutive sweeps is the longest streak since 2023, a run built on stellar defense as Hawaii ranks 7th nationally in opponent hitting percentage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe definitely have a lot of pride in our defense because I think that is Hawaii volleyball, historically, we\u2019ve been a very gritty team, so we want to continue with that,\u201d Middle blocker Miliana Sylvester said. \u201cI think we\u2019re doing a great job in the net and also in the back row, there\u2019s some crazy plays where our littles have been keeping the ball up, so it\u2019s really impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They now welcome San Jose State to the Stan this weekend. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI give them credit for not just knowing, but remembering and then continuing to execute, it\u2019s one thing to know, it\u2019s another thing to continue to execute,\u201d Head coach Joshua Walker said. \u201cThey\u2019ve done a great job and just being open to feedback and making adjustments, we\u2019re continuing to improve and gonna have to keep improving defensively if we want to be playing in the post season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">UH face the Spartans on Friday and Saturday, both matches will be on K5, coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Hawaii time.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Hawaii News Now.
