Planning Commission approves water plant overhaul in Atwater Village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/planning.lacity.gov\/plndoc\/Staff_Reports\/2026\/10-08-2026\/CPC_2025_5724.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has approved an overhaul of a water reclamation facility<\/a> will bring new open space to the west bank of the Los Angeles River.<\/p>\n<p>The project from the City of Los Angeles, planned at 4590\u20134610 and 4700 West Colorado Boulevard, is a modernization of the Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. Plans call for demolishing an existing chlorine detention pond to make way for the construction of new wastewater treatment tanks, a personnel building, and a water purification demonstration facility among other improvements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/la.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2026-10\/LA-Glendale%20Water%20Reclamation%20Plant%203.jpg?itok=Iykf2TTt\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"Lehrer Architects\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/LA-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant 3.jpg\" width=\"950\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nRendering of LA-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant and new open spaceLehrer Architects<\/p>\n<p>Construction is to occur in three phases, beginning with the removal and replacement of water infrastructure, followed by the construction of the new personnel building, and concluding with the new water purification facility.
