SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jabari Bates<\/a> scored his first touchdown of the season and Dylan Lee<\/a> recorded his second career interception to lead San Jos\u00e9 State (3-3, 1-1 MW) in a 16-13 loss in the first overtime to Wyoming (3-3, 2-1 MW) on Friday night at CEFCU Stadium, presented by Rotten Robbie.<\/p>\n

The Spartans built a 13-6 lead through three quarters behind a touchdown run from Bates and two field goals by Trajan Sinatra<\/a>. Bates led San Jos\u00e9 State on the ground with 69 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Luke Weaver<\/a> completed 26 of 38 passes for 251 yards.<\/p>\n

Wyoming tied the game early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown, and neither team scored on subsequent drives, forcing overtime. In overtime, the Spartans received the ball first and threw an incompletion on fourth-and-one, turning the ball over on downs. The Cowboys would then knock through a 21-yard field goal to secure the victory.<\/p>\n

Carson Clark<\/a> led the Spartans with eight receptions for 91 yards, while Jerry McClure<\/a> added five catches for 54 yards and Cooper Hoch<\/a> recorded four receptions for 53 yards. Defensively, Tuli Tagovailoa-Amosa<\/a> and Lee each finished with nine tackles, and San Jos\u00e9 State totaled six sacks. Wyoming went 3-for-15 on third downs and 5-for-6 on fourth downs.<\/p>\n

This was the Spartans’ first overtime game since the 2024 Hawai\u2019i Bowl and first overtime game at home since 2018
\nThe Spartans\u2019 six sacks were the most since they had nine against Colorado State on Nov. 5, 2022
\nJayland McGlothen<\/a> finished with a season-high 1.5 sacks
\nTagovailoa-Amosa recorded his first career sack, and his nine tackles and two tackles for a loss were both career-highs
\nIn addition to his nine tackles, Lee also recorded a sack
\nLee\u2019s sack and interception were both the second of his career
\nAizik Mahuka<\/a>\u2019s sack was his second of the season
\nSolomone Langi<\/a>\u2019s half sack was his first of the season
\nEthan Powell<\/a> earned a sack on a fourth-down goal-line stop, giving him 2.5 sacks on the season
\nBrian Dukes, Jr.<\/a> had his first forced fumble of his career
\nJeremiah Tuiileila<\/a> recorded his first career fumble recovery
\nClark\u2019s 91 receiving yards set a new career-high<\/p>\n
