A California bride-to-be whose marriage proposal was ruined by a woman\u2019s racist outburst<\/a> in Laguna Beach was gifted a wedding dress from a bridal store owner who heard about her harrowing ordeal.<\/p>\n

Hayley Lugo received the dress from the owner of the Saint Clark Bridal Suite in Monrovia, after the proposal was hijacked by a woman who told Lugo and her boyfriend to \u201cgo back to Mexico\u201d<\/a> as a mariachi band played at their engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe live in a world [where] people can be pretty hateful,\u201d owner Lisa Clark told CBS News<\/a>. \u201cSo I wanted to make sure that she understood that the world is not full of hate and there is still kindness, and if this is something I could do for her, I wanted to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bridal shop\u2019s owner, Lisa Clark, said \u201cI wanted to make sure that she understood that the world is not full of hate.\u201d CBS NEWS<\/p>\n

Lugo said she felt grateful for the free dress after the traumatic experience that was caught on camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery blessed to be receiving the gown and that there\u2019s so many kind people out there who are still willing to help us despite what happened,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She appeared to pick out a strapless white dress adorned with pearls around the blouse.<\/p>\n

The silver lining comes after the couple was approached by a woman walking a dog at Crescent Bay Point Park in Laguna Beach.<\/p>\n

As an arranged mariachi band began playing, the unidentified tormentor told Lugo and her fiance Emmanuel Banuelos\u2019 to \u201cGo back to Mexico.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIt hurts a lot because it\u2019s not just us there,\u201d Lugo told ABC 7<\/a>. \u201cShe\u2019s being mean to the whole Mexican culture, the whole Hispanic culture, like everyone\u2019s felt it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Banuelos said Lugo had \u201cfallen in love\u201d with mariachi music and he \u201creally wanted\u201d her to hear it during the proposal.<\/p>\n

Haley\u2019s sister and the engagement\u2019s videographer, Trinity Lugo, said the woman set upon them and the camera set up to film the engagements.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe park is for people who live here and enjoy the park and have picnics,\u201d the woman says in the video.<\/p>\n

As the couple arrived and the mariachi music played, she began escalating her verbal tirade.<\/p>\n

\u201cBulls\u2013t. It\u2019s f\u2013king Mexican. This isn\u2019t Mexico either, you motherf\u2013ers,\u201d the woman is heard saying. As she walks past the couple, she yells:\u00a0\u201cGo back to Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI could not believe that I was being told those words,\u201d Trinity recalled. \u201cAt first I thought, you know, she was just a normal Karen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laguna Beach city officials said they would not comment on private individuals but condemned the woman\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe City of Laguna Beach is aware of the video from Crescent Bay Point Park on October 2. Laguna Beach has long been a place of acceptance and inclusion,\u201d read a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reject hateful language and behavior of any kind\u00a0as it\u00a0does\u00a0not reflect our community\u2019s values.\u201d <\/p>\n
