SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose Sharks<\/a> star center Macklin Celebrini<\/a> returned from a two-game absence with a lower-body injury, scoring his first goal of the season Saturday in a 3-1 loss<\/a> to the Edmonton Oilers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Celebrini was a late scratch from the lineup in a game against the Dallas Stars<\/a> on Monday night, and he proceeded to miss his club’s 3-2 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

But he was back to business Saturday at home, skating in 24 shifts covering 21:59 time on ice. He finished with two shots, two hits and two minutes in penalties.<\/p>\n

In the end, it wasn’t enough. Connor McDavid<\/a> recorded his 13th point of the season and 10th assist as the Edmonton Oilers raced to their fourth straight win.<\/p>\n

Vasily Podkolzin<\/a> scored his fifth goal while Mattias Ekholm<\/a> and Alex Formenton<\/a> also scored for Edmonton. Tristan Jarry<\/a> stopped 19 shots.<\/p>\n

Ekholm opened the scoring at 12:37 of the first period. Podkolzin extended Edmonton’s lead 3:13 into the third, with McDavid recording the assist. He moved ahead of Jack Eichel<\/a> for the league lead in points and assists.<\/p>\n

Formenton made it 3-0 on a backhand shot about two minutes later.<\/p>\n

Celebrini, the first-year captain, got San Jose on the board midway through the third period, but the Sharks could not complete the comeback. Yaroslav Askarov<\/a> made 17 saves for San Jose in the loss.<\/p>\n
