<\/p>\nLocal, National Weather Service San Diego discontinued the Tropical Storm Watch early Sunday morning that was in effect for San Diego County and its coastal waters.<\/p>\n
The government of Mexico discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning from Punta Eugenia northward to the U.S. Mexico Border, according to the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n
The impacts from Post-Tropical Cyclone Rachel occurred in San Diego County this morning and could continue into early afternoon, according to NWS San Diego. <\/p>\n
Though the Tropical Storm Watch has been cancelled, coastal flooding, wind and periods of heavy rain could lead to localized flooding, said the NWS San Diego. <\/p>\n

Widespread rain expected through Sunday, clearing out in the evening. Periods of moderate to locally heavy rain will continue, especially in the mountains and deserts. (National Weather Service)<\/p>\n
Flash flooding will continue to be a concern on Sunday, according to NWS San Diego. <\/p>\n
Elevated winds are expected to remain in Rachel’s wake, according to NWS San Diego. At their peak, winds reached 59 mph in eastern San Diego County.<\/p>\n
Beach areas are at risk to erosion, with high surf expected to peak around six to nine feet, said the NWS San Diego. A General Rain Advisory is in effect for all beaches and bays because of the rainfall, according to San Diego’s Department of Environmental Health and Quality.<\/p>\n
The advisory said that water contact should be avoided during the rain and for 72 hours following it due to possible bacteria from urban runoff. <\/p>\n
Harbor Beach, San Diego River Outlet Dog Beach and La Jolla Children’s Pool are advised that bacteria levels have exceeded state health standards and may cause illness.<\/p>\n
