BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) \u2014 A million dollars is a lot of money \u2014 but try $900 million. That\u2019s how much is at stake for Tuesday night\u2019s Mega Millions drawing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there is a lot of people that need help that we can use this money to provide some help to them,\u201d said Bakersfield resident George Samaan.<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s drawing is the eighth largest in Mega Millions history. The largest was a whopping $1.6 billion back in 2023.<\/p>\n
28th annual Teddy Bear Picnic set for Dec. 11 <\/a><\/p>\n Some Bakersfield residents shared the first things they would do if they won.<\/p>\n \u201cHonestly, that\u2019s a lot of money,\u201d said 18-year-old Parneet Kaur. \u201cBut I would definitely start off by retiring my parents and just like, settling in. And then I would probably invest a lot of it so that it\u2019s like generational wealth rather than just me spending it all in, you know, my lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFor my kids\u2019 education, maybe to buy a nicer house to live in another area, like maybe close to the beach,\u201d Samaan said.<\/p>\n George Samaan\u2019s two young children both wanted to be in on the fun.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll buy a golden airplane,\u201d said Peila Samaan.<\/p>\n \u201cA golden airplane? Where would you fly to?\u201d 17\u2019s Vincent Demonte asked.<\/p>\n \u201cUh, Hawaii,\u201d Peila said.<\/p>\n Luke Samaan also shared what he would buy with the money.<\/p>\n \u201cA golden Lamborghini,\u201d Luke said. \u201cAnd, uh, golden toys and, uh, a golden house and a diamond.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDo you think you\u2019re ready to drive a golden Lamborghini?\u201d Demonte asked.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah!\u201d<\/p>\n The community also shared some words of advice for the eventual winner.<\/p>\n \u201cI look at it this way. If you have a dollar, you should be able to give a dollar,\u201d said Daniel Lovato, a Bakersfield visitor.\u00a0\u201cSo if you have $1 billion, be able to give $1 billion, right? And that\u2019s how I look at it. So it all depends on what your needs are.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDefinitely think of others, too,\u201d Kaur said. \u201cLike, you got lucky, that\u2019s good for you. But put some of it to good causes. Help the world out, you know, don\u2019t be selfish.\u201d<\/p>\n
