{"id":493275,"date":"2026-10-12T04:28:17","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T04:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/493275\/"},"modified":"2026-10-12T04:28:17","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T04:28:17","slug":"la-county-evacuations-lifted-as-crews-get-upper-hand-on-bike-fire-in-santa-clarita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/493275\/","title":{"rendered":"LA County evacuations lifted as crews get upper hand on Bike Fire in Santa Clarita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A rapidly growing brush fire prompted a brief round of evacuation orders in Santa Clarita and nearby areas on Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the blaze, named the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire.ca.gov\/incidents\/2026\/10\/11\/bike-fire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bike Fire<\/a>, was estimated at 475 acres and 68% containment as of 9:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The fire was located close to Camdria Estates Lane and Ravenhill Road, close to Golden Valley Ranch Open Space.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire was not known as of Sunday afternoon. It&#8217;s unclear if any structures are threatened.<\/p>\n<p>Aircraft were being mobilized to assist with the battle by 2:08 p.m., the Angeles National Forest said.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the second notable brush fire to break out in the Santa Clarita Valley in the last two weeks, after the 1,048-acre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/castaic-canyon-brush-fire-bouquet-fire-los-angeles-county-fire-department-angeles-national-forest\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bouquet Fire<\/a> erupted near Castaic last weekend, forcing evacuation orders for many in the area. On Friday, a man was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/santa-clarita-man-faces-federal-arson-charges-for-allegedly-starting-bouquet-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">arrested for allegedly igniting the blaze<\/a> by throwing a lit cigarette into a pile of fireworks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Evacuation orders and warnings lifted<\/p>\n<p>According to the Angeles National Forest, the fire had &#8220;erratic&#8221; behavior and a range of evacuation orders and warnings were <a href=\"https:\/\/lacounty.gov\/emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">issued by LA County<\/a> officials as the situation began to develop. All orders and warnings were lifted at around 8 p.m., with advisories remaining in place for those previously impacted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Authorities established a temporary evacuation shelter at the College of the Canyons, which is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, according to LA County firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>An animal shelter was also available for small and large animals at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, which is located at 2551 W.
