CORVALLIS, ORE. — San Diego State struggled on both sides of the ball en route to a 66-14 loss against Oregon State Saturday at Reser Stadium.<\/p>\n
The Beavers (4-2, 2-0 Pac-12) scored a touchdown on each of its first five drives, scored on 10 of its 13 drives overall, and decisively won almost every statistical category.<\/p>\n
It was the fourth consecutive win for OSU, which began its season with losses at Houston (currently No. 20 in the AP poll) and home against Texas Tech (currently No. 10 in the AP poll). Oregon State is outscoring the opposition, 207-64, over the four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n
The Beavers outgained the Aztecs (2-4, 1-1 Pac-12), 651-147, including a 462-91 edge in the passing game and 189-56 on the ground. OSU had 35 first downs to SDSU\u2019s six, was 12-for-17 on third down and had the ball for nearly 25 more minutes than San Diego State (42:18-17:42).<\/p>\n
Oregon State quarterback Braden Atkinson threw for 409 yards and had five passing touchdowns for a second straight week. Malik Murphy relieved Atkinson in the fourth quarter and was 8-for-8 for 53 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n
Jesse Legree caught 10 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns, including passes of 11, 71 and 31 yards.<\/p>\n
Down, 35-0, the Aztecs got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter. Quarterback Jayden Denegal<\/a> connected with Jaylon Hawkins<\/a> for a 43-yard pass to get to the Beaver 24-yard line. Five plays later, Denegal found Jacob Bostick<\/a> in the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown.<\/p>\n OSU, however, went 40 yards on four plays in just 25 seconds to set up a long field goal attempt, taking advantage of two SDSU pass interference calls. Caleb Ojeda then hit a 53-yard field goal as halftime expired, pushing Oregon State\u2019s lead to 38-7.<\/p>\n San Diego State went three-and-out coming out of the half and Atkinson connected on a 71-yard pass to Legree to push the Beaver lead to 45-7.<\/p>\n OSU followed with a 31-yard pass to Legree and a 1-yard rushing score by Jake Reichle to make it 59-7.<\/p>\n Aztec kick returner Jaylon Hawkins<\/a> answered with a 97-yard return for a touchdown.
