Kevin was a sergeant until 2018 and Ann retired as a deputy chief of the department in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/article\/marin-county-shooting-three-dead-22472841.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Multiple outlets <\/a>are <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/post\/authorities-investigating-shooting-strawberry-circle-unincorporated-marin-county\/19931046\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> that Kevin Mannix shot and killed Ann in a murder-suicide that also claimed the couple\u2019s youngest daughter, Katie. This corresponds with law-enforcement radio audio reviewed by Mission Local. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that radio back-and-forth, law enforcement figures state that the \u201cRP\u201d \u2014\u00a0reporting party \u2014\u00a0says \u201cthe father killed the mother and the sister\u201d with \u201csix to nine shots\u201d from a handgun. The alleged shooter was identified as Kevin Mannix.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miguel Almaguer, the public information officer for the Marin County Sheriff\u2019s Office, said that a 911 call was made shortly after 5 p.m. regarding shots fired in a home on the same small street in unincorporated Mill Valley where the Mannix family owns a home. The 911 caller had been within the home. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur deputies arrived on the scene within a few minutes and were able to reach the reporting party. She made her way outside of the property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputies entered the home and found three deceased people. Kevin Mannix in the photo accompanying his retirement announcement in a 2018 Taraval Station newsletter<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marin County sheriff and its coroner have not stated the circumstances of the shooting nor released the victims\u2019 identities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kevin Mannix retired as a sergeant at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taraval.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/July-2018-Monthly-Week-4.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taraval Station in 2018<\/a>. Ann Mannix was the first woman to make the SFPD SWAT team and the first woman to lead it \u2014 she is, to date, the only woman to ever serve on the SFPD SWAT team.
