The department is officially shopping around for a tech platform to help write up police reports.<\/p>\n
In late 2025, the SDPD strictly prohibited officers from using public, consumer-grade AI tools like ChatGPT to ensure data security and accuracy.<\/p>\n
Officials say slashing paperwork will fill gaps from front-line staffing shortages and get patrols back out on the streets faster.
