OAKLAND \u2014 Costco expects to hire about 400 people at its new West Oakland<\/a> location, documents on file at City Hall show.<\/p>\n

The 166,800-square-foot warehouse store would sit at the corner of West Grand Avenue and Wake Avenue<\/a> on a section of an old U.S. Army base once completed. The site also is expected to include a fuel station and 947 parking spaces, according to city planning files.<\/p>\n

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, records show.<\/p>\n

The fuel station will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, according to the proposal.<\/p>\n

A Costco Wholesale store could be a big success in West Oakland, according to Tony Beatty, a JLL commercial real estate broker who helps Costco find sites in the Bay Area.<\/p>\n

The development would bring hundreds of jobs with competitive wages to West Oakland while generating substantial annual tax revenue for the city.<\/p>\n
