Detroit Catholic Central (7-0 D1) — The Shamrocks went to Orchard Lake without their starting quarterback, had their backs against the wall and still left unbeaten, albeit narrowly. St. Mary’s was generally stingy with its run defense, but Ryan Jaafar (59 rushing yards; four catches, 20 receiving yards) was particularly effective late in the game and CC was getting playmaking from the whole ensemble, whether it was Lindon Bojaj or Josiah Neal or Dylan Miller-Ramsey. Like a senior’s spot in the student parking lot, No. 1 belongs to the Shamrocks.

2. Clarkston (7-0 D1) — The Wolves clinched the OAA Red title with a 56-21 win at Lake Orion that looked as easy as most games have over the past month. Aside from Detroit Catholic Central, Harper Woods is the only team that’s gotten the better of Clarkston dating back to the beginning of next season, and the Wolves will travel there for this week’s conference crossover, then host Muskegon in their final regular season outing. The turnovers that the Wolves have seemingly generated at a higher rate this season could be key down the stretch and into the playoffs.

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (5-2 D2) — Friday was a tough one for the Eaglets, who had been circling this game ever since their first loss of the season and probably long before that, too. Football is about one moment turning everything on a dime, but St. Mary’s, whether they take solace in it or not, was a play away in games against the No. 1 teams in D1 and D3 now. They’re still the only team to beat Muskegon Mona Shores and defeated Brother Rice by four TDs, and could end up finishing second in the CHSL Central if they bounce back by beating Toledo CC on Friday.

4. Oxford (6-1 D1) — With little to no fanfare going into the season, the Wildcats finish the OAA Red in second place after being voted fourth. The rest is about fine-tuning and posturing to host playoff games from here on out, and the Oxford really has a chance to go into the playoffs with an impressive resume considering they still have Groves and Romeo on the schedule.

Football Roundup: Milford win helps create four-way tie atop LVC standings

5. Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice (5-2 D2) — If youth and inexperience was where the Warriors were a step short of the powerhouses in the CHSL Central Division last season, injuries have been a legit hindrance this fall, and that goes beyond just quarterback. At this point, pride will be driving them in the Prep Bowl game against the Shamrocks, but with the division out of reach the main thing for the Warriors, who should get their sixth win on Friday, is getting healthy for November, because they’ll still be equally or more talented than than the first two or three opponents when they get there (at worst).

6. South Lyon (5-2 D2) — The Lions jump two spots this week after beating their rivals, and it’s clear at this point they’re the best team in the Lakes Valley Conference. It speaks volumes that they’ve been responsible for handing the other three teams tied with them atop the LVC their only defeats (not just in the LVC, but overall). Barring a slip up, South Lyon should go into the playoffs 7-2 and with a share of the league. If they do, it’s going to take an impressive win from one of the teams below them for them to do anything but stay or go up these rankings.

7. Milford (6-1 D2) — The Mavericks are now winners of three in a row, with two of their best wins coming by multiple scores in the past two weeks against North Farmington and Farmington. The Mavs’ average margin of victory is 33.3 points and they have a nice non-league win over Seaholm. A big game that could decide the LVC against WL Western looms in Week 9.

8. South Lyon East (6-1 D2) — Honestly, the difference between East and Milford is negligible at best from a resume perspective, so have your pick. Both have exact overall and league records, both can call Farmington and North Farmington their best LVC wins (and each lost to South Lyon), and like Milford, their league championship hopes seem to rest on a game against WL Western, who the Cougars will get first this Friday.

9. Stoney Creek (5-2 D1) — The Cougars locked up a league title back in Week 6, but their fight for the city fell short at Rochester Adams, 23-14. To their credit, Oxford is the only other team that’s given Clarkston a game this season. But the Cougars are still looking for a signature victory other than handling Rochester, and they’ll get their opportunity Friday with a crossover at Ferndale.

10. Walled Lake Western (6-1 D2) — The Warriors still have everything to play for. They lost by 21 to South Lyon back in Week 3, then defeated Farmington by one point before three lopsided wins, including a record-setting victory last Friday over Walled Lake Northern in which they put up 77 points. Now, they’ve got to go on the road to take on two other league frontrunners in SL East and Milford.

Here are Oakland County’s top 10 football teams following the seventh week of the 2026 season: 1.
