One year since our last update, wood framing is starting to rise for mixed-use development of the former site of Walgreens at Pico Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The project, which is being developed by Giltner Realty Advisors<\/a>, is located at 5843 W. Pico Boulevard<\/a>, and will consist of a six-story structure containing 48 apartments above a single level of ground-floor retail space and basement parking.<\/p>\n

Permit filings indicate that five of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.<\/a> A representative of the developer previously indicated that the project would utilize development incentives through the Transit Oriented Communities incentives program<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scales Lab Architects<\/a> is designing the project, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building.<\/p>\n

The project is the latest in a recent string of mixed-use developments along Pico Boulevard to either side of Fairfax, joining new developments from APPA Real Estate<\/a>, Wiseman Residential<\/a>, and Cityview.<\/a><\/p>\n
