Business, civic and community leaders will meet in San Jose on Tuesday to discuss how to support tech and economic growth across the city, including data centers.

San Jose has been working on standards to make data centers work for the community.

The city currently has 20 active data centers totaling about 1.6 million square feet.

Another 30 projects are under review by the city of San Jose’s Planning Division, which would add another 1.7 million square feet.

The city’s regulatory framework for data centers has been in the works, covering water and power requirements, as well as environmental and noise impacts on surrounding communities.

The Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting Tuesday’s forum, which will also include PG&E, the South Bay Labor Council and the West Data Center Coalition.

As the city’s draft is currently written, San Jose’s standards go beyond state standards enacted in September.

The city is holding a community forum Thursday at City Hall that will be open to the public.

The Planning Commission will hear the final draft in mid-November, and the full City Council will discuss and likely vote on it in December.

There is no action connected with Tuesday’s forum at the chamber’s offices. The forum begins at 11:30 a.m.

Business, civic and community leaders will meet in San Jose on Tuesday to discuss how to support tech…

[29
2080,88,90,89
post-494844","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-jose","tag-artificial-intelligence","tag-san-jose","tag-san-jose-headlines","tag-san-jose-news
["GET
