Testing related to a futuristic jet triggered an evacuation in the Bay Area Monday and left three people injured when its batteries sparked a chain reaction.<\/p>\n

Archer Aviation said the incident at the San Jose facility involved 30 Molicel batteries and can be attributed to an \u201cemployee error,\u201d according to KRON<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday, we had a small fire during routine battery testing in our 77 Rio Battery lab,\u201d the company told The Post. \u201cThe fire was quickly extinguished and all employees were safely evacuated. The safety of our employees is our top priority and we\u2019ve worked closely with local authorities to ensure the area is safe and the situation is fully resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molicel is a battery manufacturer and describes a thermal runaway as \u201ca dangerous chain reaction in lithium batteries, causing the battery to overheat, potentially fail, catch fire, or even explode.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"AA futuristic jet triggered an evacuation and left three people injured when its batteries sparked a chain reaction.<\/p>\n

The three people injured have since been released, and all evacuations have been lifted.<\/p>\n

The company said the affected batteries have been transported to a remediation station and submerged into a suppression tank. A fire watch team will stand guard over the batteries until Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

A contractor, Republic Services, will dispose of the batteries and clean up wherever necessary.<\/p>\n

Archer Aviation is set to lead the way<\/a> as the exclusive air taxi provider for L.A. LIVE, AEG\u2019s sprawling four-million-square-foot sports and entertainment district adjacent to Crypto.com Arena with a proposed vertiport in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s Midnight aircraft, an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle designed for urban areas, will transport fans, athletes, artists and other visitors directly to and from the downtown entertainment district without relying on the city\u2019s notoriously congested roads.<\/p>\n

The company also told The Post their aircraft was not involved in the battery fire.<\/p>\n

Archer Aviation is hoping to be the top air transport provider for the 2028 LA Olympic Games as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see this as a one-of-a-kind opportunity to add a flagship downtown location to our planned Los Angeles air taxi network ahead of the LA28 Games,\u201d Archer CEO and founder Adam Goldstein said.<\/p>\n
