(KPTV) &#8211; A Sacramento County, California, man charged in a wire fraud scheme appeared in federal court Tuesday before a U.S. magistrate judge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Daejon Labrayae Delenar Love, 35, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Portland on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford for the District of Oregon announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Prosecutors say Love and another person asked people to put money into high-yield investments, including an \u201cexpedited account\u201d that promised large, fast returns. To gain trust, Love claimed to be a wealthy real estate investor or a current or former NFL player.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The indictment also alleges Love used online dating and social media profiles with false personal and financial information, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kptv.com\/2026\/09\/01\/oregon-city-woman-recounts-date-with-man-accused-posing-nfl-player-fraud-scheme\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kptv.com\/2026\/09\/01\/oregon-city-woman-recounts-date-with-man-accused-posing-nfl-player-fraud-scheme\/\">built romantic relationships with victims<\/a> and showed signs of wealth to persuade them to send cash or wire money. Instead of investing the money, Love is accused of spending it on travel, hotels, luxury cars, clothes, jewelry and other buys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Love was arraigned, pleaded not guilty and was ordered held in jail pending a jury trial set to start Dec. 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Federal investigators say the scheme involved at least 26 women in Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho, totaling more than $1 million. The FBI arrested Love last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Court records also name 18-year-old Taylor Chan as an alleged accomplice. Both are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"35-year-old Daejon Labrayae Love is accused of posing as a player for the San Francisco 49ers...\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/RXHZWGRE4JAW7MZ5LIAMQH4BDI.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"666\" \/>35-year-old Daejon Labrayae Love is accused of posing as a player for the San Francisco 49ers or as a wealthy real estate investor on dating apps to scam women out of their money(US Attorney&#8217;s Office of Oregon)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One Oregon City woman who told FOX 12 she met Love on Bumble in June 2024 described a brief date where he used the name John Prince and said he was a Swiss real estate developer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe said \u2018I\u2019m very intentional and efficient when it comes to dating,\u2019\u201d Rachel Anderson told FOX 12 in August. \u201cWithin five minutes I knew I wasn\u2019t going to see him again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Anderson said Love talked about having $5 million in an account and a $3 million home in Vancouver, and claimed close friendships with celebrities and NFL players.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen I saw that, I almost fell out of bed, I could not believe it,\u201d Anderson said after learning of the arrest. \u201cIt\u2019s just awful, I can\u2019t imagine how those women feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If convicted, Love faces up to 20 years in federal prison, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. He would also have to give up any property bought with money from the scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Anyone with information about Love or his alleged accomplice is asked to contact the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KPTV-KPDX.
