The Nashville Predators will look to start a new point streak tonight when they host the San Jose Sharks for a 7 p.m. CT puck drop at Bridgestone Arena. This evening’s contest is the first of three meetings between the Western Conference foes this season; Nashville will visit San Jose next month before another trip out west in January.

The Preds saw their four-game point streak come to an end Tuesday night with a 5-2 loss to Vegas to begin a three-game homestand. Turnovers didn’t help Nashville’s result against the Golden Knights, so that will be an area of focus tonight against a skilled Sharks team that has dropped three of four, including a 6-3 loss to Boston on Tuesday night.

“It’s something that we’ve got to clean up,” Preds Head Coach Andrew Brunette said following Wednesday’s practice. “[We’ve] taken care of the puck really well until [Tuesday] night. So, we’ve got two teams coming in that are high-octane offensive teams, and it has to be better, or we’ll be chasing games. And it doesn’t matter what systems we put in place, if we turn those pucks over that many times in one game against those teams, you’re going to pay the price eventually, and we paid it [Tuesday] night.”

“I think we’ve had some stretches within games where we’re playing the way we know we can play to the best of our abilities, but we’ve probably been a little too lackadaisical at times,” Preds center Jack Drury said Wednesday. “So, we’ve just got to be a little sharper in our details across all ends, and I think that’ll translate tomorrow and get wins for us.”

The Predators dressed 11 forwards and seven defensemen on Tuesday against Vegas, and Nashville line rushes and D-pairings remained the same during Wednesday’s practice. Forward Mavrik Bourque did not practice and remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Last Time Out:

Ryan O’Reilly and Adam Edstrom scored for Nashville on Tuesday, while Juuse Saros took the loss in net. Edstrom’s goal came shorthanded and gave him a share of the team lead with three tallies on the season.

Steven Stamkos and Nils Hoglander also have three goals each, and Stamkos leads the team with seven points, followed by Roman Josi (1g-5a) with six points.

Edstrom’s goal was his first career shorthanded goal, and he’s just three goals away from a career high.

All-Time Meetings:

The Preds are 51-30-(2)-8 all-time against the Sharks, including a 30-13-(1)-2 mark at home. Nashville is 9-1-0 in the last 10 vs. San Jose and 4-1-0 in the last five meetings at Bridgestone Arena.

Juuse Saros has posted a career record of 15-2-1 against the Sharks with a .925 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against average. His 15 wins are tied for the most among active netminders vs. San Jose and the second-most he has tallied against a single franchise (Chicago, 16).

Nashville owned an 18-game point streak (17-0-1) against San Jose that lasted from March 16, 2019-March 24, 2026; it was the longest active point streak by an NHL team against a single franchise up until it was snapped on April 13, 2026.

The Predators’ win streak of 15 games against the Sharks was also the longest active run against a single team in the NHL, their longest run against a single team in franchise history and tied for the seventh-longest in NHL history.

The Predators defeated the Sharks, 8-0, on March 5, 2022, marking the largest margin of victory in a road game in franchise history.

On Aug. 23, 2024, the Preds acquired forward David Edstrom, goaltender Magnus Chrona and Vegas’ first-round pick (Ryker Lee) in the 2025 NHL Draft from San Jose for goaltender Yaroslav Askarov, forward Nolan Burke and Colorado’s third-round pick (traded to Toronto; Toronto selected Tyler Hopkins) in the 2025 NHL Draft.
