A 41-year-old convicted felon described by prosecutors as a “notorious pimp” has been found guilty of sex trafficking nine women and girls across Southern California over a four-year period, during which he violently beat several victims, sending at least one to the hospital.

Lebaron Anthony Alexander Jr. trafficked his victims, two of whom were minors, between January 2016 and February 2020 throughout Los Angeles County and other parts of the Southland, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

During that time, Alexander recruited and groomed women for commercial sex work, sometimes contacting them through social media before convincing them to work for him, officials said.

Several victims suffered severe physical abuse, with at least one woman sustaining injuries serious enough to require hospitalization, prosecutors said.

Alexander was convicted Oct. 6 of 13 felony counts, including human trafficking, pimping, pandering and possession of a firearm by a felon, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.

The convictions included three counts of human trafficking of an adult, three counts of trafficking a minor for a commercial sex act, five counts of pimping an adult, one count of pandering an adult and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

“These sex traffickers inflict devastation among those they prey on,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “They exploit their victims’ circumstances and treat human lives as a means for profit.”

Hochman also acknowledged the courage of survivors who came forward and testified against Alexander.

Alexander’s conviction comes amid several recent prosecutions involving sex traffickers in Los Angeles County, including a separate case in which a man was sentenced to decades in prison for opening fire on an alleged rival.

On Oct. 7, Demont Andre Jennings was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, plus an additional five years, for shooting at a vehicle carrying an alleged rival sex trafficker and two women, according to prosecutors.

Two people inside the vehicle were struck by gunfire but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

A jury convicted Jennings in July of two felony counts of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.

The district attorney’s office said it remains committed to prosecuting sex traffickers and those accused of exploiting women and minors throughout the county.

Alexander, who has not yet been sentenced, faces a maximum of 84 years in state prison. Prosecutors did not provide a sentencing date.
