In Echo Park<\/a>, Cypress Equity Investments<\/a> (CEI)\u00a0recently wrapped up work on a new multifamily residential complex near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Alvarado Street.<\/p>\n

The OnSunset Apartments<\/a>, named for their location at 2225 Sunset Boulevard<\/a>, consists of a seven-story building that will feature 176\u00a0 studio, one-, two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom apartments above parking for 203 vehicles.<\/p>\n

Advertised rents for the property’s market rate units range from $1,745 to $15,050 per month.<\/p>\n

Those amounts do not apply to the 18 apartments set aside for extremely low-income households, which were provided in exchange for Transit Oriented Communities incentives<\/a> to permit a larger complex than would normally be allowed by zoning rules.<\/p>\n

Ottinger Architects<\/a> designed the contemporary podium-type complex, which is clad in metal panels and wood siding. OnSunset scales down to a four-story profile facing Elsinore Street to the north, and includes street-fronting live\/work along Sunset Boulevard.<\/p>\n

According to the Ottinger Architects website<\/a>, the design for 2225 Sunset was inspired by the site’s hillside location. Likewise, the website of Integrare Group<\/a>, the project’s general contractor, indicates that the property includes a courtyard and a rooftop deck.<\/p>\n

The development joins a handful of similar multifamily residential buildings proposed near Sunset and Alvarado, including a mixed-use complex beginning to rise at the former site of Taix Restaurant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While CEI may be based in Los Angeles, the bulk of the company’s activity is concentrated in the City of Santa Monica, where it has more than a half-dozen projects planned<\/a> or under construction.<\/a><\/p>\n
