Major safety improvements on <a href=\"https:\/\/bikinginla.com\/2025\/07\/11\/bike-rider-killed-in-west-hollywood-hit-and-run-on-deadly-fountain-ave-one-third-of-2025-socal-bike-deaths-hit-and-runs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">deadly<\/a> Fountain Avenue were <a href=\"https:\/\/bikinginla.com\/2022\/11\/23\/weho-approves-fountain-protected-bike-lanes-debate-over-cyclist-semantics-and-running-over-bikes-in-bike-friendly-davis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">approved in 2022<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/2025\/08\/19\/west-hollywood-plans-to-tame-deadly-fountain-avenue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">again in 2025<\/a>. The city\u2019s funded plan is to reduce car travel lanes and on-street car parking in order to widen sidewalks and add protected bike lanes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project design is nearly complete, and expected to go out to bid very soon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But <a href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/2024\/10\/21\/planned-fountain-avenue-bike-lanes-spark-division-in-west-hollywood-politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">not everyone is on board for making Fountain safe and multimodal<\/a>. A <a href=\"https:\/\/weho.granicus.com\/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&amp;event_id=1778&amp;meta_id=326917\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">proposal<\/a> from City Councilmember Lauren Meister would have city staff pause current plans to instead \u201cevaluate a modified Fountain Avenue Streetscape Project that retains existing parking and omits protected bikeways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Streets for All and other advocates are encouraging the public to submit comments and\/or to attend and speak up at Monday\u2019s 6 p.m. City Council meeting [<a href=\"https:\/\/weho.granicus.com\/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?event_id=0635aba3-6620-47c0-8ca7-3975215740bd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">agenda \u2013 Fountain is item F5<\/a>].
