A local gym has recently adopted a portion of the Clovis Trail, and the gym\u2019s owner and members are looking forward to maintaining and cleaning it for years to come.<\/p>\n
\nHigh Five Fit Club owner Brandon Pinon announced that the gym has adopted a portion of the trail along Clovis Avenue between McKinley and Clinton avenues in Fresno.<\/p>\n
\nHe believes High Five Fit Club is the first gym to participate in the trail adoption program. The gym currently has about 100 members.<\/p>\n
\nPinon added that he has lived in Clovis for more than 25 years.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019ve been driving down Clovis Avenue my entire life and it\u2019s not officially my street but I feel like Clovis has become a part of who I am and the gym. It\u2019s been really beautiful to now give back to the community, keep it clean, and keep it organized.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nPart of the application process requires a business to be in good standing, Pinon said.<\/p>\n
\nThe process took about two years, and there were other applicants seeking to adopt portions of the trail.<\/p>\n
\nPinon said it is up to him whether he wants to hire a service provider to maintain the trail, but he is confident that gym members and the local community will volunteer to help with cleanup efforts.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIts good community outreach,\u201d Pinon said. \u201cWe\u2019ve always been a part of the community and when you\u2019re a small business it\u2019s hard to get recognized for the things you do right. There are other small businesses in Fresno that are doing stuff right but they don\u2019t get noticed because that\u2019s the standard. I think this will propel us to the next level and maybe garner some foot traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n
