The Trump administration sued California election officials this week. They asked a judge to block the state from counting mail-in ballots from people the federal government has identified as \u201clikely\u201d non-citizens until their status can be confirmed<\/p>\n

With less than three weeks until the election, California and the Trump administration are clashing over new claims that 20,000 people who may not be citizens are registered to vote and received mail-in ballots. <\/p>\n

The Trump administration sued California<\/a> election officials this week. They asked a judge to block the state from counting mail-in ballots from people the federal government has identified as \u201clikely\u201d non-citizens until their status can be confirmed. The lawsuit comes after the federal government gave state election officials and the county of Los Angeles 48 hours to determine if there were any citizens on a list they provided. <\/p>\n

On California Politics 360, Ashley Zavala sat down with the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District, Bill Essayli<\/a>, and California Attorney General Rob Bonta<\/a>. <\/p>\n

California drivers continue to struggle with climbing gas prices. For a month, gas prices have been $6 a gallon. Diesel continues to hit record highs, hovering around $8 a gallon. In an attempt to address high fuel prices amid the war in Iran, President Donald Trump struck a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/a> to obtain diesel from that country.
