{"id":500370,"date":"2026-10-18T19:25:33","date_gmt":"2026-10-18T19:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/500370\/"},"modified":"2026-10-18T19:25:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-18T19:25:33","slug":"rush-reschedule-san-jose-show-after-drummer-falls-ill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/500370\/","title":{"rendered":"Rush reschedule San Jose show after drummer falls ill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img width=\"1140\" height=\"855\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/RUSH-2026-Tour-Opener-The-Forum-Los-Angeles-2026-Far-Out-Magazine-1140x855.jpg\" class=\"attachment-single-feature size-single-feature wp-post-image\" alt=\"RUSH - 2026 - Tour Opener - The Forum, Los Angeles - 2026\" layout=\"fill\"  style=\"object-position: 50% 20%\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Credit: Chris Knopp \/ YouTube Still<\/p>\n<p> Sun 18 October 2026 12:42, UK <\/p>\n<p>Rock legends <a href=\"https:\/\/faroutmagazine.co.uk\/tags\/rush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">Rush<\/a> have been forced to postpone their San Jose show, set to take place on October 17th, after their drummer fell ill.<\/p>\n<p>The band was set to take the stage at SAP Centre, but took to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dem4uIHh47J\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">social media<\/a> to announce that the show would not be going ahead, only hours before the doors were set to open.<\/p>\n<p>Taking a more personal approach, guitarist Alex Lifeson addressed Rush fans in the video message, where he revealed that drummer Anika Nilles had fallen ill.<\/p>\n<p>Nilles had originally begun to feel sick at the first Rush show, which took place in San Jose on October 15th, but her symptoms had worsened to the point that she was unable to take the stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this really sucks,\u201d Lifeson admitted on the video, adding that Nilles \u201cwas in the early stages of a flu, but she managed to get through the gig, which was really quite incredible and a testament to her willpower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lifeson went on, \u201cBut over the last couple of days she\u2019s gotten a lot worse, and unfortunately we\u2019re gonna have to cancel the show tonight. It\u2019s a real bummer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apologetically, he added, \u201cWe\u2019re crestfallen. We were really looking forward to it, but it is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The musician looked to the future, continuing, \u201cShe\u2019s going to recover hopefully within the next four or five days, hopefully, and then we are going to try to come back on December 6th to do the make-up gig.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For good measure, Lifeson added, \u201cAgain, really, really sorry. These things happen. It\u2019s flu season. We\u2019ll do our best to get back in shape and return and put on a fabulous show for all of you.
